Export of edibles, livestock to Afghanistan banned

Updated at: 1954 PST, Tuesday, October 27, 2009

PESHAWAR: The NWFP Government has imposed ban on export of livestock and edibles to Afghanistan, Geo News reported Tuesday.According to sources, the smuggling of eatables and livestock into Afghanistan has worsened the demand and supply balance in the local market and the prices are burgeoning every coming day.According to sources, the eatable commodities and livestock were being smuggled into Afghanistan from various parts of the province including Peshawar, which has stricken the demand and supply ratio off the balance.According to sources, the government is taking up more solid measures to stem the smuggling to Afghanistan, so that the prices of the livestock could be stabilized in the run up to the Eidul Adha.
